Our Mission

As part of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials for Sustainable Energy Technologies (LIMSET) is a leading force in advancing sustainable energy solutions tailored to the evolving needs of Morocco and Africa. Since its establishment, LIMSET has been instrumental in pioneering multidisciplinary research and executive education, supporting industries and empowering communities to tackle the complexities of sustainable energy. Our work not only fosters groundbreaking research and innovation in energy technologies but also emphasizes training and knowledge transfer, equipping professionals and students with the skills to lead in the energy transition. Our vision at LIMSET is to drive impactful change in energy sustainability through cutting-edge research, technology transfer, and robust education programs. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, we aim to strengthen Morocco’s leadership in sustainable energy, positioning the nation as a regional and global innovation hub. Through strategic collaborations and executive formations, LIMSET strives to develop a talent pipeline of industry leaders who are equipped with the expertise to support energy goals across Morocco and Africa. Our commitment to training ensures that the knowledge generated in our labs is translated into actionable skills and frameworks that can be applied directly in the energy sector. LIMSET’s mission is supported by three primary research areas that address critical challenges and opportunities in the field of sustainable energy:

  • Thermal Energy Storage - Developing cost-effective thermal energy storage solutions focused on industrial waste heat recovery and Power-to-Heat systems to improve energy efficiency and accessibility.
  • All-Solid-State Batteries - Researching innovative solid electrolytes and cobalt-free cathodes to create safer, more efficient batteries for electric mobility and grid storage, enhancing sustainability and reducing material scarcity.
  • Green Hydrogen and Its Derivatives - Advancing materials and processes for green hydrogen and green ammonia production, aiming at cost-effective decarbonization of industries, power generation, and transportation in support of zero-emission energy goals.
